I believe that the key to creating successful digital products is understanding the needs and behaviors of users, and designing interfaces that are intuitive, efficient, and visually appealing.
As a frontend developer, I specialize in building web applications. I have a deep understanding of modern technologies and frameworks needed. While the selection of tools I use may vary depending on the project, I have a few favourites that I find myself using time and time again:
A plugin for design software Sketch to help designer create and organise Design Systems easily. Back in the days when I build the plugin, Sketch did not offer great internal tools for doings so. Resulting in designers wasting countless hours in repetitive and error-prone tasks. It became one of the most popular premium plugins at the time, used by over 6000 designers over the world.
With a great deal of courage, I started on my first job as a designer at a digital agency in 2011. Armed with five years of design school experience, I was confident it couldn’t take too long to become a design director at a prestigious design firm. After a few weeks reality pulled a Will Smith on me and smacked me in the face. It turned out I knew sh*t.
So, I reached out to some of the top creative minds in the Netherlands and asked if I could interview them and get their advice on how to succeed as a starting creative. To my surprise, everyone (except for one) I contacted was more than happy to help me out. For an entire year, every Monday, I shared their tips online, to inspire young creatives like myself.
